Zulu, the place where the sun rises
The province of Mpumalanga is also known as Zulu, “the place where the sun rises”. The weather in Mpumalanga in July is as diverse as the country, with a cool 9 degrees Celsius throughout the night. As the sun rises and warms the land the temperature reaches a pleasant 26 degrees by mid-afternoon with beautiful blue skies and very little chance of rain.
Last year in the month of July Ngwenya Lodge guests were welcomed by many sightings of elephants, hippos, cape buffalo, crocodiles and graceful waterbucks. This is an excellent time of year to spot an abundance of birdlife too including Egyptian geese, Cape turtle doves and the distinctive white markings of the white-browed robin chat. If you do not have “tickly” feet then treat yourselves to a unique Garra Rufa fish spa, watch and feel the sensation of the tiny fish nibble away at your feet, leaving you with fresh and healthy soles. Sudwala Caves was nominated the 2nd best attraction in Nelspruit by TripAdvisor (2017).
Wander through Nelspruit’s Lowveld Botanical Gardens to admire South Africa’s largest selection of flora and birdlife, cross stunning waterfalls on wooden bridges to reach the rainforest offering an abundance of botanical plants, flowers and beautiful birds singing high in the trees.
