In the first part of the holiday members would be discovering the ancient town of Hoi An in Vietnam by checking into the Karma Cay Tre resort for 7-nights. Following on from this we found a 3-night stay at the luxurious Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique & Resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which offered members an unmissable opportunity to visit the captivating Angkor Wat. Afer all, if you’ve travelled all that way, why miss one of the most iconic sights in the world!

UNESCO registered Hoi An as a World Heritage Site in 1999 for preserving its ancient temples and old buildings whilst creating a healthy new economy to attract tourism and trade.

Hoi An, Lantern Town

The ancient streets of Hoi An are lit by vibrantly coloured silk lanterns hanging from shop doorways and local houses, adding a splash of colour to the old town. Over the years, many visitors have named Hoi An as the Lantern Town.

Exploring Vietnam’s hidden treasures in April is ideal as it is the height of their summer and one of the driest months, with temperatures averaging 25 degrees Celsius.

Siem Reap, Great Gate to Angkor

The city of Siem Reap is surrounded by rice paddies and the largest number of Hindu temples, including Angkor Wat Temple, the largest religious temple in the world. For years, many consider this city to be the Great Gate to Angkor.

The most popular sight of Siem Reap is of course the Traveller’s Choice (2016) award winner, Angkor Wat Temple, featured in a TripAdvisor article “3 days in Siem Reap”. The intricate sculptures engraved into the stone walls is a strong reminder of the fascinating history. A highly impressive 97% of more than 29,000 TripAdvisor reviewers voted their visit as either “Excellent” or “Very Good”!

A visit to the scared Ta Prohm Temple is a memorable experience. The temple’s ruins are engulfed by the intertwined roots of the banyan trees, the formation of the plants amongst the buildings is remarkable. One of the famous “Indiana Jones” films was shot at the world-famous tree within the site.

The wonderful atmosphere and friendly people of Cambodia is an experience not to be missed or ever forgotten.

We could not find any availability at either the Karma Cay Tre in Vietnam or Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique & Resort to compare prices, so let’s look at the overall cost of these holidays for eXpectations members.

Taking the Karma Cay Tre resort in Vietnam first, we found 12 different dates at which you could book your holiday to explore this fascinating region of South-east Asia. Members of eXpectations Plus could have booked the featured accommodation for just 12,000 points for a 7-night stay at this RCI Gold Crown Resort. To put this points value into perspective the total price for the holiday featured came to just £347 (based on two people sharing when we looked on: 25/1/2017). In the second holiday of this wonderful trip we found a 3-night stay at the luxurious Hotel Somadevi Angkor Boutique & Resort.
