Explore the rich landscape of Madeira with rocky coastlines, magnificent mountains boasting eco-diverse botanic forests and an abundance of flora and wildlife. It is easy to feel that this treasure island could be considered the Garden of Eden.

What better way to discover Funchal than taking a unique ride on the Monte Cable Car? Leaving from the port the glass capsule gracefully glides above the city and colourful gardens towards the slopes of Monte. Over 3,000 TripAdvisor guests commented, the ride is well worth it, as the views are simply breath-taking.

For the great outdoors experience, Pico do Arieiro is a must-see place when visiting Madeira. The third highest peak on the island with an altitude of 1818 metres, this is the place to hike along natural trails and breathe in the fresh air. Do not forget to take your camera, on clear days there are stunning views across the whole island and even toward neighbouring Porto Santo island.

Visit Monte Palace Tropical Gardens to admire over 70,000 square metres of exotic gardens, filled with tropical flowers and walk around the central lake to admire black swans. Enjoy watching the colourful peacocks and chickens roaming freely around the park. Discover the 3-floor museum displaying interesting sculptures and collections of minerals and special gems obtained from around the world. The themed gardens have proudly earned the Certificate of Excellence (2016) award from satisfied TripAdvisor visitors.

Spend a morning browsing around Funchal and discover the colourful sights and sounds of Mercado dos Lavradores (Workers Market). Streets filled with stalls selling local fruits and veg, colourful flowers and an amazing array of colourful dried plants and herbs. You will enjoy absorbing the atmosphere whilst browsing the market, listening to the cries of the stall sellers, and mingling amongst the busy locals.
