Åre is recognised as Scandinavia’s largest ski resort and boasts a programme of year-round activities. The month of February is peak season and considered an excellent time of year to visit with good quality snowfall and an average of 9-hours of daylight with fresh daytime temperatures.

Guests can enjoy an excellent choice of fun activities in the Club’s Saunaworld, including 8 indoor pools with a 67-metre waterslide and fun waterfall as well as a choice of 6 saunas. The brave can take a dip in the minus 8-degrees Celsius ice sauna after working up a sweat in the rooftop gym which offers inspirational views of Åreskuten Mountain and Lake Åre. The spa offers 16 treatment rooms to revitalise your body and mind. Join in the free yoga classes or enjoy group outdoor activities including; hiking, cycling, skiing and fishing.

The fresh mountain air can certainly create a big appetite. Grow Restaurant at Holiday Club Åre prepares highly nutritious meals using fresh, locally grown ingredients for guests to enjoy fulfilling meals any time of the day/evening. The American-style dinner at O’Leary’s Sports Bar provides a relaxed atmosphere for guests to enjoy succulent dishes whilst watching sports games on the big screen TV.

Within walking distance, guests can jump onto the nearest cable car ski lift to enjoy over 110 ski runs to suit all abilities, including northern Europe’s greatest vertical drop at the highest peak. This picturesque village entices visitors to enjoy its outstanding natural beauty by exploring nature trails by hiking, cycling and fishing in the warmer months. Skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding are all on offer during the colder times.

Things to do in Åre

Discover the breath-taking scenery surrounding Åre by taking a guided tour. Have fun riding a snow quad bike across snowy pathways and through pine-wood forests to explore the exhilarating Swedish landscapes. Experience close encounters with friendly reindeer where they can feed straight from your hands.

Visit Sweden’s largest waterfall, Tannforsen, approximately 15km from Åre. The magnificent waterfall is a memorable experience with the thunderous sound of the water crashing against the rocks and the woodland forming a beautiful backdrop. Visitors can stop at the nearby souvenir shop and café for a hot drink and admire nature at its best. Tannforsen Waterfall is voted a number one favourite place to visit by TripAdvisor visitors (2017).

Chocolate lovers will not be able to resist the Åre Chokladfabrik factory. Watch the talented team crafting handmade chocolates and truffles in every flavour imaginable. Buy a packet or two of these mouth-watering delights and don’t forget to take some home for your loved ones.

For those looking for adventurous outdoor activities try ice climbing, exploring caves and ski tours across the Åre mountains with JoPe Fors & Fjäll. The professional team will assist you with adrenaline rushing activities, such as climbing on frozen waterfalls and discovering the beautiful limestone caves hidden behind waterfalls. The serenity and beauty of cross-skiing is a wonderful experience, follow the nature trails to enjoy sightings of reindeer and moose roaming through mountain woodland.
